Andy became the first Chinese-Canadian
candidate for office in Canada’s Capital

Andy Wang is the federal candidate of record for the riding of Nepean in the 42nd General Election of Canada receiving 23,442 votes (36.13%) on October 19th, 2015. He was also one of the youngest candidates with one of the youngest campaign teams in the country.

A resident of Nepean for the past 15 years, Andy developed his passion to help others and to empower youth and newcomers. He first started in politics as an office volunteer for his local Member of Parliament at the age of 16 in 2004.  In 2009, he obtained his dual B.A. degree in Economics and Political Science from McGill University. He is currently pursuing his Masters of Public Administration from Columbia University (’18).

For over five years, Andy worked at both the Parliament Hill and Constituency offices of the local MP as an Executive Assistant and later as Office Manager while the MP served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister, to the Minister of Transport, and as the Minister of Democratic Reform. During this time, Andy helped serve the constituents of Nepean passionately, tirelessly and responsibly. He has often represented his MP at local meetings and events.

Outside of politics, Andy was the Principal of Daido Academy, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to serving the local community through activities that help youths, adults, and seniors stay healthy and fit. As well, he ran a digital media consultancy between 2011 to 2016 while helping to deliver IT solutions for local businesses and non-profit organizations.


Andy believes in public policy that is individual-driven which can utilize 21st Century technologies to empower each person’s rights, needs, and well-being.
